LivePulse — real-time audience polling and Q&A session

The problem

What was actually broken.

Audience interaction dies at the sign-up screen. If joining a poll takes an account, an email confirmation and an app, most of the room will not bother — and the results you do get are from the most patient people present, not the room.

The approach

  1. 01Join by short code, with no account and no install for participants.
  2. 02Push results over WebSockets so the room sees the same numbers at the same moment.
  3. 03Give hosts moderation over the Q&A, so the loudest question is not automatically the first one.
  4. 04Design the participant view for a phone held at arm's length in a dark room.
