The problem
What was actually broken.
Audience interaction dies at the sign-up screen. If joining a poll takes an account, an email confirmation and an app, most of the room will not bother — and the results you do get are from the most patient people present, not the room.
The approach
- 01Join by short code, with no account and no install for participants.
- 02Push results over WebSockets so the room sees the same numbers at the same moment.
- 03Give hosts moderation over the Q&A, so the loudest question is not automatically the first one.
- 04Design the participant view for a phone held at arm's length in a dark room.
